Project description
Although both incidence and prevalence of chronic illnesses are rising worldwide, many chronically ill people are stigmatized and misunderstood. Chronic illnesses lack any progression towards a clear endpoint, which renders it impossible to tell a “good story” about them. This project aims to break this silence by researching how chronic illnesses can be recounted in a story. Combining empirical research with philosophical reflection, this project investigates 1) how chronically ill people experience time and 2) how this time experience can be recounted in a story. As such, it contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of chronic illness and better care.
